Section Six
"I didn't set out to build a wellness brand. I set out to understand why I felt so unwell — and to find answers that actually made sense. Everything you see here grew out of that search."

Her Story
Shiela's path to functional wellness wasn't driven by professional ambition. It was driven by necessity — by years of symptoms that conventional medicine couldn't explain, and an intuition that the answers existed somewhere if she kept looking.
The Beginning
Shiela's health story begins at six years old, when a pathogen — a streptococcal virus — triggered an autoimmune response that would set the trajectory of her health for decades to come. There was no clear explanation at the time. Just an illness that didn't quite resolve, a body that felt different from others, and a nervous system that was already fighting something it couldn't name.
Years of flaring followed. Unexplained symptoms. Chronic inflammation. A gut that was perpetually reactive. And eventually, organ failure — which led to the diagnosis that finally gave part of the picture a name: Ulcerative Colitis, later confirmed as Crohn's Disease. Two autoimmune diagnoses that explained the gut devastation but still left enormous gaps in the story of why her body was behaving the way it was.
Twenty Years Later
Decades into her health journey — after years of navigating Crohn's, chronic inflammation, and symptoms that extended far beyond her gut — Shiela received two more diagnoses that reframed everything. A connective tissue disorder, which explained the structural instability, the methylation challenges, the toxin overload, and the chronic inflammatory patterns she'd been managing without a name.
And OCD and anxiety — traced back to the original streptococcal infection from childhood. This is called PANDAS (Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal Infections) — an autoimmune condition where strep antibodies cross-react with brain tissue, triggering neuropsychiatric symptoms. The virus from age six had been the original autoimmune trigger all along. Everything — the Crohn's, the connective tissue disorder, the neurological symptoms, the MCAS — was the same overwhelmed immune system expressing itself through different systems over the course of a lifetime.
That understanding changed everything. Not just academically — but personally and deeply. The body hadn't been failing. It had been fighting, with everything it had, against an immune burden it was never resourced to clear alone.
The Discovery
Through all of her investigations — the research papers, the functional medicine deep dives, the connections she pieced together between gut health, immune dysregulation, MCAS, methylation, and connective tissue — Shiela discovered HealthForce SuperFoods. For the first time, she found supplements that weren't isolated synthetic compounds, but concentrated whole-food nutrition made with the integrity in sourcing and formulation she had been searching for.
Vitamineral Green became her daily foundation. The Intestinal formulas gave her gut the consistent support it had been missing. Liver Rescue helped address the connection between her liver's overwhelmed detox pathways and the histamine symptoms she'd been managing reactively for years. Slowly, system by system, the picture came into focus — and her body began to respond in ways it hadn't in decades.
The Mission
Shiela didn't keep what she learned to herself. She never has. The conversations started with people in her community — friends and family who recognized themselves in the symptoms she described, who were frustrated with the same inadequate answers, who needed the same kind of clear, honest education that she'd had to piece together slowly over decades of living it.
Rooted in Nature Nutrition grew from those conversations. A place where the science is real but never intimidating. Where products are never pushed — they're explained. Where the goal is never to create dependency, but to hand someone the understanding they need to make informed decisions about their own body for the rest of their life.
That is the work. And it's deeply personal — because it started, and continues, with her own healing journey walking right alongside it.
The Moments That Shaped It
Healing is rarely linear. It moves through moments of breakthrough, confusion, setback, and sudden clarity. These are the turning points that shaped Shiela's understanding — and ultimately shaped everything Rooted in Nature Nutrition teaches.
Age 6
A pathogen at age six initiated an immune response that would shape the next several decades of Shiela's health. At the time there was no explanation — just illness, inflammation, and a body in a state of alarm that nobody could adequately interpret.
Years of flaring
Years of chronic flaring eventually led to organ failure — and finally, diagnoses: Ulcerative Colitis, then Crohn's Disease. Two autoimmune conditions that explained the gut devastation, but still left the larger picture incomplete. The question of why the immune system was so dysregulated remained unanswered.
Twenty years later
Two decades into her health journey, a connective tissue disorder diagnosis reframed everything — explaining the methylation challenges, the structural instability, the toxin overload, and the chronic inflammatory patterns that had always been present but never fully explained.
The breakthrough
The final piece was discovering PANDAS — Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal Infections. The OCD and anxiety Shiela had been managing were not separate from her physical illness — they were caused by the same streptococcal infection from age six, where antibodies had cross-reacted with brain tissue. Everything — the Crohn's, the connective tissue disorder, the MCAS, the neuropsychiatric symptoms — was one immune system, fighting one long battle, expressing itself in different ways over a lifetime.
The shift
Discovering that supplementation didn't have to mean synthetic isolates — that whole-food nutrition, properly sourced and formulated, could support the body's own intelligence rather than override it. This changed both the personal health trajectory and the philosophy that would become Rooted in Nature.
Today
Shiela's healing is ongoing — not because she hasn't made progress, but because health is not a destination. It's a daily relationship with a body that is always communicating and always capable of more when given the right conditions. She walks that path with every person who comes through Rooted in Nature's door.
What Shiela Believes
These aren't marketing statements. They are the beliefs that were forged through lived experience, years of research, and the honest observation of what actually helps people heal — and what doesn't.
Chronic symptoms are not signs of a failing body. They are a body working exactly as designed — trying to protect you from a load it wasn't built to carry alone. When the load decreases and nourishment increases, the body remembers what it's capable of.
You can take the right products and still not understand why they work — which means you can't make intelligent decisions when circumstances change. Understanding your biology is the foundation that makes every other intervention more effective and more sustainable.
There will be setbacks. There will be flares, frustrations, and days that feel like going backwards. These are not signs of failure. They are information — and they are part of every genuine healing story she has ever witnessed, including her own.
Managing symptoms is sometimes necessary. But it is never the destination. The real work is always in understanding what's driving the symptom — and addressing that, even when it's slower, harder, and requires more patience than a quick fix.
Patients know their bodies. Shiela knows this from personal experience — the intuition that something isn't right, even when tests come back normal, is often the most accurate diagnostic signal available. She takes that seriously, because she has had to fight to have her own taken seriously.
Wellness is not a market to be won. It's a body of knowledge to be shared. Shiela operates from the belief that when people understand their health better, the whole community rises. This is why education is always free first, and products come second.
Working With Shiela
Rooted in Nature Nutrition is not a clinical practice and Shiela is not a medical doctor. What she is, is someone who has done the research, lived the experience, and found a way to translate complex functional wellness science into language that actually helps people make sense of their bodies.
This is what that looks like in practice.
Every piece of content, every product recommendation, and every protocol shared on this platform is grounded in functional wellness science — explained clearly and without unnecessary complexity.
Products are never pushed. They are explained — their mechanisms, their purposes, who they are and aren't right for. The goal is always your understanding, not your purchase.
Many of the people who find Rooted in Nature are navigating chronic conditions, complex sensitivities, and a medical system that hasn't had answers for them. This is a space that gets it — without judgment, without toxic positivity, without pretending healing is simple.
The education here is designed to be usable. Not just interesting — applicable. Every section ends with a clear, practical next step that you can take regardless of your budget, timeline, or where you are in your health journey.
What This Is — And Isn't
Understanding the scope of this space helps you use it well and know when to seek additional support.
The Person Behind It
Shiela is a mother, a home cook, a sourdough baker, a researcher, and a deeply community-oriented woman who happens to have built something meaningful out of her own health journey.
She is not a polished wellness influencer with a perfect morning routine. She is someone who has sat in the confusion, done the hard reading, made the dietary mistakes, and found her way through — and who shows up every day to share what she's learned with everyone willing to listen.
She believes in real food over supplements, education over authority, community over competition, and the profound intelligence of the human body when given even half a chance to do what it was designed to do.
"I built this because I needed it — and because I know I'm not the only one who did. If even one person reads something here and finally understands why their body feels the way it does, then this whole thing is worth it. That moment of recognition — that's why I show up."
